The Scottish and European Wildlife Collection at Palacerigg is unique in Central Scotland providing a rare opportunity to see not only the Scottish wildcat and pine marten, but also wolves, lynx, artic fox and European bison.

Every effort is taken to maintain individual species in a manner that will promote nature behaviour. Palacerigg recognises the importance of a local and global approach to breeding endangered animals - the przewalski horses are registered as part of an international breeding programme.

Palacerigg also houses an extensive collection of owls - ranging from the little owl at only 20cm tall to the impressive eagle owl at 70cm.

Herds of ancient white park cattle once roamed wild in the forests of Lord Fleming's Cumbernauld estates, providing  hunting for the kings and nobility of Scotland. Nowadays, they are maintained as a rare breed.
